Scottish Highlands — Est. 2026
Technical architectural services for the Scottish Highlands. Planning applications, building warrants, listed buildings, and rural housing — delivered properly, first time.
What We Do
ALN Architecture is a technical practice. That means we focus on getting your project through the system — Scottish Building Standards, Highland Council planning, listed building consents — with drawings and documentation that stand up to scrutiny.
Planning Applications
Full planning drawings and supporting documentation for residential and rural projects. Highland planning policy, NPF4, and local development plan familiar.
Building Warrants
Warrant applications prepared to Scottish Building Standards. Domestic Technical Handbook, energy compliance, and structural coordination all handled.
Listed Building Consents
Alterations to listed and historic buildings require a careful approach. We understand what Historic Environment Scotland expects and prepare applications accordingly.
Extensions & Alterations
From single-room extensions to whole-house alterations — measured surveys, design, planning, and warrant drawings all under one roof.
Conversions
Barn conversions, garage conversions, and change-of-use projects. Rural conversion projects require specific technical knowledge — we have it.
Rural & Croft Housing
New rural dwellings under NPF4 Policy 17, croft plots, and rural housing supplementary guidance. We know what makes a rural application viable in Highland.
Fire Strategies
Technical fire strategies for domestic and non-domestic buildings. Scottish Non-Domestic Technical Handbook, automatic suppression, CMEV — handled in-house.
Feasibility & Early Advice
Not sure if your project is viable? A feasibility conversation before you spend money on a full application can save significant time and cost.
About
ALN Architecture Limited is directed by Allan McLeod, an Architectural Technologist with over 20 years of experience across Scotland — from large commercial projects in Glasgow to planning applications and building warrants across the Highlands.
This is not a design-ego practice. The work is about technical delivery: drawings that are accurate, applications that are properly prepared, and projects that move forward without unnecessary delay.
Based in Invergordon, with experience across Ross-shire, Sutherland, Inverness-shire, and the wider Highlands, ALN Architecture understands the planning context, the Highland Council process, and the practical realities of building in rural Scotland.
Where We Work
ALN Architecture works with clients throughout the Highlands and Islands. Whether you're in Inverness or on the west coast, we can help. Below are the main towns and areas we regularly serve.
